This class is designed for printmakers and other artists who want to explore collagraph printing. A collagraph is a printmaking process in which a wide variety of materials are applied to a substrate such as cardboard, wood, or plexiglass. The plate is then inked and printed with a press. The resulting print is termed collagraph. The process of building a collagraph plate with many substrates such as carborundum, acrylic texture mediums, glues, textiles, string, and other endless possibilities is alot like making a collage but instead the plate is inked and printed. This class will also explore the many exciting possibilities of monotype, layering, chine-collé, carved plates, and stencils with the support of an ongoing class. We will be using Akua inks and producing finished prints. Students will provide their own materials.
