Critique Course: Making Work in Crisis

Critique Course: Making Work in Crisis

Mon | Mar 1-Mar 22 | 6:00 PM-7:30 PM
4 Sessions
Ages: Adults (16+) | $85 | Mary Blackburn

Why and how do we make work when the ecosystems that sustain us are in crisis? What is critique in this context and how should we proceed with our return to the process after many interruptions? The critique functions as (productive) interruption; emotions regarding the state of things serve as (productive?) eruption; domestic work including emotional labor becomes disruption. These will be the central animating questions of our gathering. Each session you will bring a completed work and an incomplete work for discussion. Some brief texts penned by artist/writers Etal Adnan, Tove Jansson; Lenore Chinn; Forest Bess and Tarsila do Amaral with Oswalde de Andrade will anchor our discussions.

Class format: We will meet together using Zoom video conferencing. An invite will be emailed to you before the first class session, and you'll need internet access on your computer, tablet, or phone to participate.
