In this dynamic class, students will work with painted papers, drawing materials, monotype techniques, photographs, found objects, fabrics, old artworks, and prints. Students will paint, cut, tear, stitch, and glue compositions to make unique works of art. We will create a wealth of handmade materials and mix in others. Looking back at the history of collage and contemporary practices will fuel our ideas. Our third week of class will be held off-site at The Addison Gallery in Andover to find inspiration in their collection. There are many options of surfaces to work on and examples and ideas will be discussed in class. This workshop welcomes all levels to the spirited nature of mixing materials to create playful assemblages.
